Shadowverse

A leader is the playable character that represents each class. Players use these characters when playing the game. Different leaders of the same class, known as leader skins, are cosmetic only and do not affect gameplay.

The enemy leader is directly across from the player's leader, at the top of the screen in the middle. Their defense must reach zero for the player to win. The player's leader is found in the bottom center of the screen. Defense is displayed in the red shield on the upper right side. If this number reaches zero, the player loses the match. Players can tap and hold their leader to send an emote to their opponent. The number of emotes each turn is limited to 3.

Certain cards can give leaders an effect. These effects remain active for the entire game or until they are removed. Effects given to your own leader are generally beneficial, while effects given to the enemy leader cause disadvantages.

Obtaining Leaders

When starting the game, the player is given a default leader for each of the eight classes. Players can change the leader skin either by purchasing a new leader in the Shop or by obtaining the Leader's card when opening card packs.

Card Pack Leaders

Card pack leaders are leader skins obtainable by obtaining their respective leader cards in specific card packs. The characters who become card pack leaders are usually determined by the game's yearly Anniversary Poll.

Limited Leaders

These leaders appear in special card packs available during certain events. To compensate for only being obtainable during these specific times, their leader cards have a draw rate of 0.120% (about twice the rate of a normal Legendary rarity card).
